Team OC Solana Beach Ride 1 - 2013
Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 6:00 AM (PDT)
Team OC is headed to San Diego once again for our favorite ride of the year, the Solana Beach Train Ride! We'll leave from the Irvine Amtrak Train Station and ride down the coast to Solana Beach. After enjoying some of the best pizza you will ever eat and a beverage of your choice, you'll put your bike on a U-Haul and board a train for the ride back to Irvine.
The 60 mile route option is mostly flat with a few grades and rollers while the 73 mile route option offers some hill climbing before meeting back up with the shorter option on the coast. If you have ridden about 50 miles and done some climbing, this ride offers the perfect opportunity to increase your mileage. If you are wondering if you are ready for this ride, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to discuss it with you.
You MUST REGISTER for this ride via EventBright, please note you can only purchase one ticket at a time as each person must agree to the liability waiver. This is our MOST popular ride of the year and space is limited. Registration fee is $25 (plus EventBrite fee) which goes toward the rental of the U-Haul and incidentals required to put on the event. $25 fee does NOT cover the cost of your pizza or the train fare. Pizza and train details will be provided to ticket holders. This event has always sold out, so don't wait! We are not doing a wait list! We limit the number of riders based upon bike shipping UHaul capacity.
This is an offical ALC training ride. We will be abiding by all traffic laws and by all ALC rules. You must be present and you be ready-to-roll BEFORE the last safety speech. The last safety speech is given at 7:30 am. Riders not present at the safety speech in ready-to-roll condition will not be provided route slips and will not be considered official participants of the ride. Refunds will not be provided.
Can't make this ride? Stay tuned! We will offer this again in May...with a 90+ mile option!
This is a supported ride with sweep vehicles and food stops. It is imperative and a requirement that each rider also bring along the standard following items:
- Spare tire tubes
- Water bottles (1 with water and another with your favorite eloctrolyte replacement drink) or camel back
- Munchies to snack on during the ride (in case you need it) - food is supplied at all rest stops however should you need something between rest stops please always have something on you (Gu or Blocks etc.)
